SHIATSU

is a Japanese therapy that traces its origins back to ancient Chinese medical traditions.

Combining the knowledge of anatomy and physiology with the wisdom of oriental medical philosophy, shiatsu employs the techniques of manual pressure and gentle stretching to release tension and stress. Some of the conditions that shiatsu can help include: muscular tension and pain, headaches, arthritic pain, digestive problems, menstrual irregularities, insomnia, and anxiety. Shiatsu's sensitive, deep pressure is slowly applied to specific points along the body's energy pathways, or meridians, inducing a state of relaxation wherein the body's natural healing mechanisms operate more freely.

Because of this technique, no oils are used and the client can be fully clothed during treatment. Shiatsu is most effective when it is received regularly before illness occurs, and when combined with a health conscious lifestyle.

VANCOUVER ACUPUNCTURE

can correct imbalances that cause pain and illness with the insertion of very fine needles into points along the meridians or pathways of energy in the body. Acupuncture is effective in treating:

Acupuncture treatments involvethe insertion of fine needles into the body  at specific points shown to be effective in the treatment of specific health problems.  These points have been mapped by the Chinese over a period  of two thousand years.  Electromagnetic research has recently confirmed their locations.  When the needles are stimulated, patients usually feel some cramping, tingling or electric sensation either around the needle or down the associated energy pathway.  Any discomfort is mild and short-lived, and in many cases clients are unaware that needles have been inserted.

Traditional acupuncture is based on ancient Chinese theories of the flow of Qi (Life Force Energy) and Xue (Blood) through meridians or pathways that cover the body somewhat like the nerves and blood vessels do.  Acupuncture regulates these flows to help restore the harmonious energetic balance of the body and alleviate many conditions, such as:

  • Headaches
  • Lower back pain
  • Menstrual cramps
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Tennis elbow
  • Addiction
  • Asthma

TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE

incorporates acupuncture, herbology, oriental massage, diet and therapeutic exercise to alleviate many ills and promote health and resistance to illness. Based on a theoretical model and a foundation of experience which has evolved over thousands of years in the orient, Traditional Chinese Medicine has become an important health care choice for many in our modern society.

HOMEOPATHY:

Homeopathic medicine is a holistic system of treatment that originated in the late eighteenth century. The name homeopathy is derived from two Greek words that mean "like disease." The system is based on the idea that substances that produce symptoms of sickness in healthy people will have a curative effect when given in very dilute quantities to sick people who exhibit those same symptoms.

AROMATHERAPY:

Aromatherapy is the therapeutic use of plant-derived, aromatic essential oils to promote physical and psychological well-being. It is sometimes used in combination with massage and other therapeutic techniques as part of a holistic treatment approach.

CRANIO SACRAL THERAPY:

CranioSacral therapy is a form of alternative therapy used to assess and enhance the functioning of the craniosacral system, which consists of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid of the central nervous system. Practitioners manipulate the bones of the skull in order to remove restrictions in the flow of cerebrospinal fluid, relieving stress, decreasing pain, and enhancing the body's overall health.

REIKI:

Reiki is a form of therapy that uses simple hands-on, no-touch, and visualization techniques, with the goal of improving the flow of life energy in a person. Reiki (pronounced ray-key) means "universal life energy" in Japanese, and Reiki practitioners are trained to detect and alleviate problems of energy flow on the physical, emotional, and spiritual level.
